RSS Feeds

Our RSS Feed service allows you to see when the Pray Lambeth website has added new content. You can be advised of the latest Prayer Briefings on your desktop, as soon as items are published, without having to visit our site.

There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but most people call it 'Really Simple Syndication'. In essence, the feeds themselves are just web pages, designed to be read by computers rather than people.

How do I start using feeds?

The first thing you need is something called a news reader. This is software that automatically checks for the feeds and lets you read any articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using an internet browser, and others which are downloadable programs. Internet browser-based RSS Readers let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas downloadable programs let you store them on your main computer, in the same way that you either download your e-mail using Outlook, or keep it on a web-based service like Hotmail.

Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is click on the RSS buttons on our website. When the feed opens on your computer, click the + Subscribe to this feed link, and then check that it has been successfully added to your list of chosen websites.

For further information, we suggest that you refer to the help file or website for whichever RSS Feed Reader you opt to use.

Our 'significant role'...

'I am very pleased SOMA, along with Crosswinds, have organised this prayer initiative during the Lambeth Conference.

The Archbishop of Canterbury The Most Revd Rowan Williams

It is an important time for us in the Anglican Communion and this group of people who commit to pray for us during our meetings will play a significant role behind the scenes.

My thanks to all who have helped set up www.praylambeth.org.'

Prayer Pointers

Every ten years, Anglican bishops from around the world meet to share, pray and have fellowship, at the invitation of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

SOMA UK and Crosswinds Prayer Trust are co-ordinating briefings to inform and equip like-minded people who wish to cover this 2008 event with prayer.

If you would like to participate, please add this page to your favourites and consider signing up for the email briefings.
